As a designer, you should know what are the parameters needed to design an amplifier. It normally starts with your specifications (gain, bandwidth etc.) . From that you will be able to configure out what you should do.

sir, suppose i want to have some gain. then from that how can i proceed to get the biasing current and ac voltage and most importantly the w/l ratios of the transistors?

Hi,

In real analog design, before you selecting your W/L, you should start with the specs that you wanted (gbw,id,power etc). From that specs, you will find a way to your sizing of your transistors. There are many way to do that. For basic design, the easiest way is you just can use Square Law to get your sizing. Before you use this law, you need to know your technology parameters such as Un, Cox, Vth etc. These parameters can be found in your 0.18um design kits. For 0.18um, normally the lowest Vdd that can be used is 1.8V, depends on what technology do you use. About biasing current, you normally will have to manipulate the biasing current to get the specs that you wanted.

i created a 2 stage op amp with around 90-100 db gain and phase more than 60.....now, i want to make a transconductor....dis 2 stage op-amp can be used for dat purpose or ihave to do something else.....plz guide......

Hi,

What do you mean by that 'transconductor'? Could you eleborate more on what the input and output do you want. If the 2 stages that you have done meet the specs you needed, for sure you can.
