Hi guys I was looking at the following code and timing diagram trying to understand it. My question is: How does this person derive the dataout binary numbers in accordance to the code?

For example, when datain is 1010, why is dataout equal to 0111? From the process block I do not see this. Since 0111 is assigned to dataout when the second bit of datain is a '1'.
Could someone explain this to me?

Here is the code and timing diagram:

 

The second bit of datain IS one. Hence assigning 0111 to dataout is correct. The timing diagram seems to be correct for the code given.
