Does thyristor power consumption depend on average current I(t)? Or is the power consumption dependant on RMS Current?
Also, "For a given average
current, the power dissipated at small
conduction angles is much higher than at large
conduction angles. This is a result of the higher
rms currents at small conduction angles."
How can it be explained?
if you want to calculate power dissipation in thyristor, you should multiply Voltage across thy with current through it and integrate this over one cycle. For half sine wave conduction I would go for average current during that period. You may also want to refer following appnote
