Three effect sound synthesizers

Here are three analog effect sound synthesizers: Atari Punk Console, Waveform Processing WP-20 and MFOS Weird Sound Generator.

Atari Punk Console (APC):
The device is based on NE556. One timer operates as a square wave generator, the other as a impulse generator. The sound effects created by this simple synthesizer are interesting, they are similar to those known from old games. Schematic can easily be found on the Internet.

Waveform Processing WP-20:
It is an advanced effect synthesizer, with all basic modules of a traditional synthesizer:

• VCO
• VCA
• VCF
• LFO
• AD (Attack-Decay) generator
• noise generator

The PCB was made in photo-chemical method. It can be found on the Internet.

Music From Outer Space (MFOS) Weird Sound Generator (WSG):
The construction of synthesizer is really simple – it consists of only two chips – a set of Schmitt's flip-flops and operational amplifier. Six square wave generators and lowpass filter with adjustable cutoff and resonance were implemented here. Two generators are used as the primary audio, two modulate their amplitude, 2 – frequency. The switches allow you to turn off the amplitude modulation, change the shape of the frequency modulation waveform and inclusion of the modulator signal to the audio signal.
