I am wondering about the thickness selection for Patch ANT design.

Is thinner substrate better for EM tool to approach closer to measurement,
or thicker substrate?

Could other experts give me some opinion?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, what I mean is the microstrip antenna.
That is, patch antenna. p*a*t*c*h antenna.

EDAboardwould automatically change p*a*t*c*h to fix.

Substrate thickness has nothing to do with EM solver accuracy. After all, if you have a thick substrate laminate, then you must model it exactly as is...

Thickness increase in MPAs is a well-known technique for impedance bandwidth enhancement... But when thickness exceeds a certain point, there's a chance for surface waves to be excited inside the ptch. You could end-up with reduced rad. efficiency and 'weird' radiation patterns.

cheers!
