The project of this dimmer was presented on https://www.elektronika.ba. It is a small dimmer, based on microcontroller pic12f629 or pic12F675. The dimmer fits a standard can and requires no separate power supply. Furthermore, the light may be turned off independently by a conventional switch, if it is a monostable switch (such as in the door bell). The advantage is that the assembly does not need any additional cables. The device is mounted in a can plugging in the existing installation. The dimmer has 10 brightness levels. Longer holding the remote causes darkening of the levels. The dimmer allows to program the 4 buttons of the remote in the standard RC5 or NEC. Button switch (enlighten), darken, sleep, turn off. The sleep function allows to delay turning off the light for 2 min. The device is resistant to interference, does not raise itself. After a power failure and return it is in a disabled state.
TSOP1738 was used as IR receiver. This provides a very strong receive IR from a reflectivity. Resistor 560ohm instead of R2 820ohm is an important modification. Another one is capacitor 330nF instead of C1 390-470nF.
A practical note: when programming, the program asks whether to accept the value of the oscillator from a batch file. The answer should be NO. Otherwise, we will remove permanently the value of the oscillator from pic, which will cause that it will not work and force calibration. The second thing – before programming pic, uncheck the code protect that is enabled by default.
Programming codes from the remote control is done after running the system and is very easy. It involves holding down the ON button enabled (manual switch) for 11s. It takes you into a state of programming and is indicated by LED blink. Next just press certain buttons on the remote in the sequence on/lighten, darken, sleep, turn off.
