The prospects of being a firmware engineer

I am new to this forum. I have recently joined in a concern as a firmware engineer.

My job is to "bring up" hardware boards. As i am new to the industry, i need some guidance for my career growth.

Can anyone tell me about the prospects of being a firmware engineer and also about bring up of hardware boards.

I will be grateful for my lifetime.
