Microblaze is faster, at 85 to 100 MIPS, but I dispute that it is cheaper. The figures Xilinx quote are based on the 250,000 off price.

I see that many people like the NIOS proc.. Which triggered my curiosity.. I would like to know if there is any 'decent' software C compiler and associated debugging tools.. (I am not talking of a GNU text based software..)..?

If that is the case, then it seems a good solution.. :?:

GCC is decent (o;

Never saw any other purpose than using NIOS for linux...and if you're targeting for Linux then there is GCC only...

Maybe better running the gcc development on a real UNIX OS than under cygwin (o;
