[SOLVED] the gap size in each rings of SRR

Hi
In any one ring in SRR, there is a gap that prevents current from ﬂowing
around that ring(see the image).but in the papers(pendry) the size of this gap is unknown
why?
i need this lenght to simulate SRR
please help
