The function of resize() in vhdl coding

What does this instruction "resize()" do...... i want to pad 2 bits to the msb of 14 bit data so that i will have a 16 bit data..... will using a resize() help or concatenation......?

if there are any examples on how to acheive this do post.....?

To pad bits to a data bus in order to build a larger bus you can simply use concatenation ('&' operator) !
