A PID block (Proportional_Integrate_Derivative) performs a combination of three basic functions as mentioned within the brackets above. It is mainly used in control systems as a PID controller and it is not very common to call it "filter" because its main actions are described in the time domain. However, of course it has a certain frequency behaviour and, therefore, may be called a "PID filter".
