testing power mosfet IRF1010 question on diode test reading

In the rebuild of my 3000 watt inverter, I am testing these mosfet. I found 8 definite bad ones shorted or will not turn on.

How about those that display a lower voltage reading when they are turned on with my meter?
some display .3v and others display up to 1.1v

All the 'good' ones function as in they turn on and they turn off. Following the test procedure from here called 'simple test'.
But I was wondering if those that display lower readings are worse compared to those showing higher readings?

The link tells about a diode tester with 3 or 4 V range. Many multimeters expose only 2 V test voltage, which may be insufficient to turn the MOSFET fully on. Small variations in gate threshold voltage can then cause large differences in on-state resistance in the test.
 

Thanks so most likely they are ok? As long as they turn on and off. Meter puts out 2.9 v on the diode test.
Would using a set of dc batteries or a 9v work as a turn on power source?

That worked, I put 4.5vdc on the gate and they all fully opened. Then measured resistance and got 0.1 ohms for source to drain reversed and normal polarity.
When run the gate at 2.9vdc, I was getting anywhere from 100 to 1K ohms.
