hi all,
recently, i have designed a PCI card and now i'm gonna testing it...
but i heard that there is a danger that broke down the whole motherboard, if there is a small error in design(pcb design or functionality of bus)...
let me know if there is any safety valves to doing this.
tnx in advance.

Re: testing PCI card....is there any dangers 4 motherboard?!

PCB layout or bus routing will not effect your motherboard.

Ensure in PCB layout you meet guidelines specified for power supply.

Worst case senario if your bus routing constraints are not met, you may get junk data (due to timing difference). Your motherboard should be safe.

Good Luck

first you check the power suppy for short circuit, and give propper buffering for all used lines other wise controller chips become damage. don't worry go ahead.

tnx sentiago, tnx makri,....but makri, wut do you exactly mean by "propper buffering"??PLZ... i directly route FPGA pins to PCI connector pins, i did not think of any buffers there....

proper buffering means they donot sink or source to much current to/from mother board
