In the book "wireless communication and networking" by vijay garg, There is relation on page 161 where author provided the following relation to calculate number of users (i.e; cell phones) per cell
Nmbr of users = (n*u/v)*(B/RN)
n = bandwidth efficiency factor
u = bit efficiency which is 1 bit/symbol for gmsk and 2 bit/symbol for qpsk
v = voice activity factor which for a tdma system is 1
B = system bandwidth in MHz
R = data rate including overhead of a single user
N = cluster size or frequency reuse factor
I have tried to analyze the relation in many ways but could not understand how does this relation provide number of mobiles or users in a cell?
I though B*n/N would give bandwidth available to a single cell that would carry users' traffic. But after spending hours on this and looking on internet too i couldnt understand how come this relation gives total users in a cell. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
