What is the most suitable switching regulator for 24Vdc to 5Vdc @ 2Amps. Isolation is not required, regulation can be +/- 10%. Ripple is also not a problem.

The MAX 724 is a good choice!

Re: 24vDC to 5vDC @2A

is there a situation that transistor(power) in LM2576 become short circuit and inputs goes to output directly(overvoltage?

Where can I find Overvoltage circuit?

Make a search for “crowbar circuit” and you will find what you need!

Re: 24vDC to 5vDC @2A

Look at the AP1501 from Anachip....very low cost and easy to work with.

VIN up to 24VDC in and Vout down to 1.2 VDC

Use SI-8050S

FEATURE

- Compact full-mold package (equivalent to TO220)
- Output current : 3.0A
- High efficiency: 79 to 91%
- Reqsuires only 4 external components
- Phase correction and output voltage adjustment performed internally
- Built-in rreference oscillator (60kHz)
- Built-in overcurrentand thermal protection circuits
- Built-in soft start circuit(output ON/OFF control)

Re: 24vDC to 5vDC @2A

Look at h**p://www.micrel.com/

The MIC4684 is a high-efficiency 200kHz stepdown (buck) switching regulator. Power conversion efficiency of above 85% is easily obtainable for a wide variety of applications. The MIC4684 achieves 2A of continuous current in an 8-lead SO (small outline) package at 60°C ambient temperature.
