Some time to deal with the idea of building a laboratory source 0-50V approx cca100W / module.
The original idea was transformer 230/50V -> step-down converter -> linear regulators.
This arrangement would provide good efficiency, high accuracy and low noise.
Module could be up to 4 pieces, with everything that used to power one toroidal transformer 400AV
Question is whether this concept is now outdated?
So if do not use switching power supply 230/5-50V and then straight linear regulator?

The market is a driver for switching power supplies, which would allow easy build needed source of high resistance short circuit, overload and abilities with one transformer bridge the wide range of output voltage?
