[SOLVED] swapping 5v micro for 3.3v micro

Hi,

I'm trying to interface a PIC18F46k80 (5V) with a radio module, and I've just realised the module uses 3.3V. I have a circuit built already, and software designed, so I want to know if I can just do a straight swap for a PIC18LF46k80, which runs at 3.3V, without having to change the circuit (except the power supply - and some base resistor values for output pins driving transistors) or the software.

Are they exactly the same except for the operating voltage, or are there things I need to look out for?

Alternatively, is there an IC I can use to convert the 5V signals driving the radio module and convert them to 3.3V levels at a speed of up to 10MHz (And vice versa: 3.3V - 5V)?

Hi,

As I read the datasheet etc the standard 18F46K80 operates from 1v8 to 5v, and at 3V3 the maximum oscillator frequency is still available, so no need to change the chip, just the v regulator and possibly the resistors you mentioned.
