Summing Inputs from Two Different ADC's to Improve Resolution

I have a few ADC's(ADC0831) around but they are only 8 bit ADC'S. They are the 8pin dip. I need a higher sampling resolution and kinda need it now. Can I wire the input channels from both ADC's in parallel and phase shift the clock pulse 180 degrees on one of the ADC's to achieve a 16 bit resolution?

No, you can't. What you suggested will double the sampling rate not the resolution.

You could look into dithering techniques provided you have a high enough sample rate to oversample.
