Hi Everyone,

I am building an audio amplifier which takes audio signal from a mic, amplifies it for a headphone.

I am searching for an good audio IC which is readily available.

I tried with LM386 but it didn't worked.

I am using:

1. Clip microphone - impedance 2000 ohm (written on product)

2. headphone: 32 ohm

3. max power I can use: 12 v dc adapter, 1-2 Amp

please suggest me a good ic which can be used in through hole circuit.

thanks

I often tried LM386 as headphone amplifier, e.g. for wired intercom, and it always worked.

Sound quality isn't mind blowing. Problem in your application is probably lack of gain. "Clip microphone" may be electrete type, if so, it needs bias voltage.

-> show a circuit schematic
-> show microphone type

here are the pic of mic and schematic

Almost certainly an electret.
Rahulbs, electrets are powered microphones, they need a DC power source to make their internal electronics work. Try this: keep you existing circuit, between "Audio Input" and the top of VR1, add a capacitor of about 100nF and also add a 10K resistor between "Audio Input" and +VCC. The quality wont be mind blowing but it will prove whether the microphone type is the problem. If it works we can advise on how to modify it to improve the quality.

Hi,

just do an internet earch for "headphone amplifier IC" ..
Many semiconductor manufacturers provide a variety of them. Some even have a selection guide for them.

Isn´t this straight forward?
