Hi All.

I have a project where I need to make a Bottle Cap Sensor which will Alert when the Cap is open. Can anyone advice whats the best way to do it. I thought about IR Tx-Rx based Proximity but it will consume more power where my project needs low power consumption. Also the bottle will be glass made transparent so I can not use LDR to detect light to consider Cap is open :(

Looking forward advice.

Thank you.

if the cap is metallic , will inductive proximity sensor suitable in your environment ?

some things to think about:

Define open and close on the cap?
what sort of cap?
What is the cap made of? is it screw type/push in/cork/flip off?
resealable?

when open - is any part if the cap still on the bottle? Or is the cap totally removed?
