hey im a 1st year undergrad ece...and i want to participate in automation robotics competition in our college...but i know notin of it....could you suggest me a good book to understand robotics,pic microcontroller and stuff to make my first robot....

Robot Builder’s Cookbook Build and Design Your Own Robots

good case studies
also you need to watch more projects to get ideas in hardware sepcially sensors
i think you need to watch videos for projects

and others
just to get ideas

Some more info on the competition of robotics in your college will be required to help you more. What they are planning to build like robot car, robot arm, Line follow robot, even CNC can be included in robotic. How they are going to build like using electronics, using microcontrollers etc. These are few but we can hit the target if we get more info.
