Suggest any sensor or transducer to pick up the ECG signal from the body

i am making an ecg heart beat monitoring device.
the problem is that i can't pick up the ecg signal from the body
i am using simple metal electrodes
can any one suggest any sensor or transducer to pick up the ecg signal from the body....!!!

the problem is that can i pick up the signal from body by just touching a metal or there is any particular kind of sensors the only thing creating problem is that
the electrodes which iam using are not working.
the link you have given has the picture in which some strips link thing are attached to the body is it any senosr or simple metal electrodes...???

The sensors are just simple metal disks. The problem is noise in the environment. The amplifier must be an instrumentation amplifier. This allows common mode noise to be rejected. Also, many circuits use a ground wire connectd to a leg to further reduce noise. Please review the links previously posted as they show the connections.

For best signal, sometimes with rub the skin with a very fine sandpaper for better electrical connection. Other times, they use a conductive paste.
