suggestion about making robot

Hi i am an engineering student and i am interested in making robots but i am confused where to start and which one will be easy for beginner....any suggestions

you first need to study to use controllers (simulation )
then some electromechanical devices like stepper motor
also need to use some electronic parts es like remote controller,counter,digital ics ,basic protocols etc

check the robotics website, they have many ideas..

or do a simple pick and place, or line follower robot,

Do go for a micromouse robot. Its fun with extensive creation for a begginer. You will learn automation, control system and everything in order to implement this. So go for it, top to bottom approach, and solve each small roadblock. When u'll be standing with one finished one, half of ur brain will be occupied with what u desire for. I like to see it working as an automotive brain system, thinking on its own to solve a maze, all designed by me. So go for it buddy to learn.
