I needed some device for small party like birthdays, house party atc. Construiction must be cheap and quite simple.
In shop at my city I found HW, unfortunately too expensive for me. Luckyly one of my friend works there. He told me that this device will be set for clearance sale so I needed to be patient. He was right. After 2 months he called me that HW is twice cheaper. So I run to the shop and bought, bring home, found parameters, checked some options. I remembered that somewhere I had read that best option is about 160l and 2x10cm. At software I choose more or less those parameters … and it looks good. I decreased capacity to 145l and set tune 2x8cm, 12 cm length.
Next I had to found materials. Box is screwed by screws 50mm each 8 cm and glued by wikol. Inside I put 4 reinforce bars (without them, box was to soft, and instead speakers, sound comes from boards)
I’ve covered them by trim from castorama. I didin’t want grey or black , sad colour… Wheels 35mm diameter and each 30kg load capacity. Grill is also from castorama.
Device is powered by single TDA, transformer 2x24V, filter 3x470 uF per branch, plus DP filer with regulation 50-200Hz and other protections.
Tests? I made them outside and in the rooms. Outside I must say that is not very effective, but you must remember that it’s not destination. In rooms 30-100m2it’s very good. To compare I had stx gdn 38-550 and only one difrence was that gdn can goes lower – as for my ear, but it also need 5 time stronger power amp….
I used subwoofer at few party’s in “big room “ 40m2 my and guests notes are very positive. No one said that bass is to low or tiring.
Of course it is still cheap device.
