Lowbudget project in open casing. Inside capacity without reforce is 32l ( at least 2l to much). I made two holes with 5cm diameter and 145mm length. This converter got (active) limited range 20-150Hz before amplifier. Rear wall is glued by roofer rim (big plus) and sponge with insets dimensions 20x20x5cm (small plus). Another combinations with adding different sound proof layers doesn’t give anything.
So far I’m not happy about subwoofer work. At home I still have Genius Home Theater 5.1 and subwoofer from that set is much stronger at music (what is funny). When I set front side to the wall and leave 20cm free space sound is better – maybe it’s a casing fault? Wrong tuning? I would like to avoid cutting pipes, especially that I’m not sure is it help. Except that when I used sinusoidal sound generator, I found that there is hole in pop bass frequency. That means that everything in my room is shacking but bass is quiet. Front panel is not glued to casing yet and there are some leak between panel and the rest. This could some effect on sound. But I’m not sure because, previously front wall was screwed and on silicone but sound was the same. STX is powered by irf540N (130W) works with two transformers 110W each from Denon amplituner. 10A bridge + electrolytes 6800uF. With Technis tuner it was even worst, about 50W RMS with lower control at the speaker. So I thing that problem is not with the power supply system.
With subwoofer I use satellites [GDN 14-100-8-scx and GDWK-10-200-8-PJ] with close casing 12 l capacity.
