I have a stepper motor in a stapling machine that is stapling fabric together. When the machine encounters too many layers of fabric, the motor stalls. When this happens, the motor returns to the previous step and then trys to move to the next step. The machine will keep doing this for 5-10 times until it completes the cycle. The noticible reaction is a "buzzing" sound where the motor is going thru this step and repeat cycling. The motor is powered by a 200w 48VDC power supply. The motor is connected to the stapling head via a rotational coupling that translates to linear motion designed to complete a 360°rotation each cycle. The strange thing is that after a "stall cycle" like described above, the machine will then successfully staple the next subsequent material without stalling. As if it has more power than the first cycle. Can anyone tell me why this happens? Also, what is the best way to get more torque to avoind the stalling in the first place?
