Construction of this project was based on stabilizer LM338T. Housing was made of 2mm steel sheet, painted with mat paint in spray.

F 6,3A fuse was applied on the DC side, while T 2A transformer was used on the AC side.

Heat sink was taken from a broken Hitachi frequency inverter. It was almost perfect for this purpose (width 11cm, with of the transformer 10,5cm). Original mounting was cut off and shortened approximately 1,5cm of high.

Transformer was removed of a Siemens industrial supply. Primary winding marked „215V” was used, which gives about 22V AC at the output, after the bridge on the filter it gives 28V DC.

Schematic of application LM338 is very simple and requires only three elements (120ohm resistor, 5k potentiometer, but it also can be 10k multiturn and 100nF capacitor) and does not require any additional control.

At load 100W/24V and current consumption of 3,8A (verified with a multimeter) there is no voltage drop at the output from set 24V.
