Stability of DVB-S encapsulator software

I'm not experienced yet in development of encoder, encapsulator and the likes. Now, I'm conducting an IP-over-DVB (Internet Protocol over Digital Video Brodcasting) research. In this research, I have to make an encapsulator software that will encapsulate IP packets into an MPEG-TS (MPEG Transport Stream) to be transmitted into the satellite and also to be decapsulated in the receiver. Since I've never developed software like this before, I would like to know the factor that may affect the encapsulator stabilty and performance. Note that I developed the encapsulator in a PC running Linux and using a DVB transceiver card with a modulator.
