hi people, i need a working circuit to make a square wave of 12Mhz or a bit less using a 12 or 24Mhz crystal oscillator
plz urgently need some posts
clock is to be used by 89c55 microcontroller and HCTL2022 at the same time and suggest if its possible to give the same clock to both the ics
thanks and regards

If you use an inverter and connect the crystal between input and ouput of it plus two equally sized capacitor in each node of inverter, you will get square wave on it's output and sine wave on it's input. If it's not good square , then you can add another inverter to its output to make it better square wave.

will this work for a v v v high frequency of 24Mhz?

Here is every thing that you need to build the crystal oscillator circuit with inverter.

The TI LVC1404 is a dual inverter gate that is very suitable for oscillator applications.

Yes, it is possible. Also i don't think that 24MHz needs three times v :).

i was having 89c55 in my mind so that it became v v v :)

and i forgot a v important thing to mention ie: can i use TTL inverter 7404 instad of CMOS inverter ic?
its v important because i hv added 7404 to my circuit and i m assuming that it will work fine as the circuit will be tested when microcontroller is added to circuit
