35 clients use a packet switching network and each user need transporting files 10 percent of time. What is the probability of 10 or more clients transporting files at the same time? The result is 0.0004.
But I don't know how to derive it. Please help me.
Thanks in advance:D

It is just a bernoulli experiment:

Set n= 35 , p =0.1, q=0.9 .
K is the success of the event and here the success is the clients transport files at the same time. You ask the probability that 10 or more clients transport file at the same time, so you must have 1(probability of the certain event) minus the probability of 0 client transport file at the same time minus 1 client transport file at the same time minus2 ...untill minus 9 clients transport file at the same time.

Which means applying bernoulli distribution K from 0 to 9 then subtract from the probability of the certain event . If you do that, you will find P = 0.0017. ??? Well it does not match the answer provided, so it seems that your question has a problem. Indeed it is not 10 or more, but more than 10 clients transporting ... if you consider more than 10, instead of applying bernoulli distribution K from 0 to 9 you will use bernoulli distribution K from 0 to 10, in this case, when you subtract the value found from the unit , you will find 0.0004 which is the answer given.

I peformed the calculation on Matlab, since it is a huge job to do in hand. You can try the the D´Moivre Laplace aproximation and check if the results is satisfatory. If so, let me know.
