front=L+R
rear=abs(L-R)


if so how is this 5:1 system decodes

Hmm, not quite sure what you're getting at and what time period we're talking about, but surround sound these days has 6 to 8 speakers and a large subwoofer which, depending on manufacturer, is placed in the middle.

Front is L+C+R (C=center)
Middle is L+R
Rear is L+C+R

The above is more elaborate, with two center loudspeakers.
 

In Dolby Digital and DTS, the six channels are totally independent. None are derived by adding or subtracting.
 

then this surround system ,SONEY deriving it
we r giving input only r/l as per my knowledge
