Hi everyone... New here, just have a little problem I thought someone might know how to fix. On one of my little projects I have a solenoid circuit setup to go off on a timer circuit, however the timer is not very accurate at shutting it off and sometimes stays on for minutes. How could I go about building an electronic timer module that, when voltage is applied, it makes the connection for a couple seconds and shuts off until the next cycle? The circuit is around 12-18vDc right now (car battery).

Thanks for all responses to this!

This should work. I'll check it out tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks Ian, and I appreciate the reminder of incorporating an external relay, I can just about picture me running back to RadioShack for another 555, I don't think it would like a couple amps going through it very well
