Software for monitoring and control?

If i wish to monitor the output voltage of an SMPS over time while its in a thermal chamber overnight, we can do this with Labview.

What other software packages can this be done with?
 

You can also acquire data using matlab but you need Data Acquisition Toolbox to be installed.This is the next software that comes into my mind.
 

Thanks, isn't it amazing that in the area of process monitoring and control there is more or less just the one software ,Labview, (as you say its possible with matlab but certainly not as convenient).
You'd think there would be lots of competing software packages needed to give the competitive edge to the subject area.
In the world of PCB layout, there is loads of different softwares, and they are all needed to make competition with each other...howcome labview has managed to go it alone and win through?...howcome so few others are competing with labview.?
 

Labview is the major software that is used for data acquisition,next to it is matlab.Labview kind of similar software is DASYlab (German software developers) that was later acquired by NI.This is one of them that I can think of.t has successfully done this to establish monopoly in this sector.
