I've been studying the implementation of single board computers, and started to see the types of architectures from ARM RISC processors and SoC's. Now there are things that I can not clarify.
My questions are:
1 to implement a single-board computer, for example, in the format PC104, we need, among others, a processor? or we need an SoC?
2 - semiconduters manufacturers such as TI, Freescale, Atmel, Cirrus, are SoCs manufacters or they just sell the "know how" to someone else manufact ?
3-What is the relationship of large corporations such as Samsung Electronics Co, IBM or Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (TSMC) and manufacturers such as TI, Freescale, Atmel, Cirrus in the manufacture or sale of SoC's?
i think i am confusing all of these concepts.
