Greetings EDABoard,

I'm looking to build a SMPS using a 34063 switching regulator and was wondering can I use an external pass transistor for 12-23A output? I do apologize if my questions are basic, I'm just learning about Switching power supplies.

What I'm looking to design:
13.8v Power Supply
12-23A Output
Very Low Ripple (Using Large Capacitors Probably)
Building this for a Radio Power Supply as well as for the experience.

Any informations, tips, or ideas are greatly appreciated.

I appreciate any and all feedback and look forward to hearing from you all.

(I did search however I did not find anything relevant)

Respectfully,
ElectricalEngineer
