SMPS design parameter

I have to design an SMPS which will drive the pulsating load. I don't know what to consider for power requirements. Shall I consider the peak curent and design the SMPS for that current or take an average of the pulses and design for the average current. please help me out.

Re: SMPS design parameter

i think this depends on the pulse period and pulse duration. If you can deliver peak current with the help of bulk capacitor ,design for the average current . Otherwise you hv to go for peak current design.
