SMPS Buck(14 to 12V@10A) and Boost (14 to 24V @5A)

To reduce 14V to 12V at 10A, it is equivalent to dropping 2V at 10A. This could be done with a 0.2 ohm resistor. It will dissipate 20W of heat.

Although a buck converter is feasible, the duty cycle will be 95 to 99 percent, and the power loop will need to have less than 0.2 ohm resistance. If it is higher then it loses any advantage over the linear drop method.

2.

To step up 14V to 24V at 5A, a boost converter will need to be fed 10.1A average, with 15% typical losses.
