SMC card -- a good choice ?

I have a requirement to store upto 100MB of data which is written in a random pattern as input from sensors. (Non-volatile)

After analysing all the storage media available I am thinking of interfacing a Smart Media Card to my controller for this.

Is there any specific dis-advantage for SMC cards ?

Is there a better solution?

By the way the application is really power limited as its for a battery powered mobile appliction running Windows CE / ARM9

Hi,
I in my oppinion, the SMC card is a good choice if you have limited number of IO and want a very simple solution, the size is also an important fact.

For 100MBytes, you are better off with the SMC than any other device, but if you want to be able to grow in the future, take a look at CompactFlash, it has a paralell access and much faster time to read/write if you do not have to have a serial interface and you hadle it as a hard drive.

Hi,
I am not sure, but the largest one I have seen is 512meg (that is the one I have) but I don't think there is a limitation in the size in the protocole.
