Can one rely on its operation part to part......still interesting. Tunnel diode can do a latch ......

For applications requiring high reliability, other more robust latching methods should be considered. Like tunnel diodes or standard flip-flop circuits.

Snapback is the bistable inversion and I expect base storage time is the key delay (much squarer than simple Cj). Latch needs only the snapback and the means to trigger or quench.

That single transistor latch is flaky, since it depends upon the reverse breakdown characteristics of the transistor base-emitter junction, which is not characterized or tested.
