hi guys, I'm new here so please be nice.... I need to build a circuit that will repeat a signal with a variable delay of between no delay and 1 second. not sure if this can be done with something like a 555 or something else in that sort of line. any help will be really appreciated.
Edit.
just done my maths and the pulse will be between 15 and 83 times per second so 1 second delay is going to be to much maybe 500ms
You say " between 15 and 83 times per second ", so is this a train of pulses and you want delay the whole train by exactly .5 Secs? Is it a regular train? or just a stream of randomly placed pulses? What is the pulse width? We need more data!

the pulse will rise and lower equally. it needs to replicate the input signal but delay it slightly. the pulse width is about 5% of the whole cycle on and 95% of the whole cycle is off
83 times a second = PRF of 83 HZ, duration between pulses ~12 mS, pulse exist for 5% = .6 mS, which corresponds to a frequency of 1.5 KHZ. It would look like a bucket brigade delay chip would do for you.
