Presented design is a cheap and simple disco scanner. It can be a great component of attractions during a party, next to such effects as stroboscope, illuminofony and UV.

Elements used:
  • laser
  • two fans removed from a PC
  • mirror
  • two capacitors
  • stabilizer 78L05
  • switch
  • 470 ohm potentiometer
  • cables
  • three aluminum angles
  • hot glue
  • housing
  • 5V charger

Firstly, you should remove blades of fans. Then, glue pieces of broken mirror to the rotors using hot glue. Such prepared modules have to be glued to the angles on the same height. The same with the laser, but before that, make sure that cables are soldered to it. To provide long life of the laser, stabilizer 78L05 and two filtering capacitors are connected to it. The potentiometer adjusts the rotational speed of one of the fans so it is used to change the figure. The other spins at a constant speed and is used to „refresh” the image.

The whole system is powered by a charger, but it is better to use a stabilizer, as the charger may give a little more than 5V.
