Hi,

Please suggest a simple and best stepdown regulator of the following specs for use in automotive application.

Input Voltage :- 48V (varies from 36V to 75V)
Output Voltage :- 12V
Output Current desired :- 3 A

A proven and readily available design is very much appreciated. Should be able to buy the board from the market and then implement it in my design if proven.

thx & rgds

You're probably looking for a "telecom" (48V) DC-DC
product. Check out Vicor and other "brick" mfrs, for
small modules.

Also the SMPS company based in East Kilbride do automotive SMPS's

I cannot remember the company name, but its near the hospital and the railway station.

I'd go for a synchronous flyback or forward.

does it have to be isolated output?
is it for a headlight?

i think onsemi have app notes..as do all others ...
