There are also the IC's below. They can be cascaded, or, you can add individual flip flops.

4024, 7-bit (÷128)

4040, 12-bit (÷4096)

4060, 14-bit (÷16,384) with internal oscillator

A large list of 4000 series IC's is at this link:

i had 555 cube project which has 4020 ic if i changed this ic to 4060 will it work.

Without seeing the schematic how are we supposed to tell?

Each of those is a binary counter but they have different divider outputs, whether they will work or not depends on how they connect to the rest of the circuit. The CD4020 is easily available almost everywhere, just because your local shop (wherever that is) does not have them, it doesn't mean you can't get them from somewhere else. I'm in a (supposedly) hi-tech area but my nearest component shop is about 100Km away and takes two hours to reach by train. I use mail order, can you?

Brian.

If you use a binary counter IC such as the 4020, then it will produce the distinctive binary counting pattern at your led columns.

Is it possible that you really want to sweep across each led column in sequence? So that only one column is lit at a time? Then you would use a 4017 (one-of-ten) IC.

ok sir can you please draw a diagram with 4060 4017 and 555 for this project
