sim900b response timeout

What should i keep the timeout for responses of sim900b module barrier initialization, ftp,http, commands?

the value is set between 1 to 1000msecs maximum...

I have observed that some responses which are depended on network, takes more time (in minutes).

for ex.
AT+FTPPUT=2,0
OK
+FTPPUT:1,0 // this response received in 3-5 seconds in good condition. sometimes it takes around 3 minutes.

I am concerned with Bearer profile, HTTP POST method, FTP PUT command sequence mentioned in IP Application Note AN_SIM900_IP_APP_V1.00.pdf.

Pl. help.

it is not 3 to 5 seconds... the API is written for milliseconds, but upon failure, it RETRIES for few times which makes user to assume the response time is in the range od few seconds....

I am using sim900b. May i know that how many retries are kept for each commands and so how much maximum time it can take to respond ?
