I have read through some theory for sigma delta modulator but yet i got no ideal how to realize the circuit in ic design as i only see block diagram. There is an adder and a integrator in the block diagram. Is that using an digital adder and an op-amp configure as an integrator to realize it in circuit? Sorry,i'm a newbee in ic design..Please help... Thanks

A Sigma-Delta DAC would have everything in the digital domain that is required to generate a bitstream, followed by some way to convert the bitstream into an analog signal. There are many different ways to do it, though, because the Sigma-Delta principle is quite generic, and will work for analog and digital integrators as well as for discrete-time and continuous-time integrators. This may be why you feel that the block diagram is quite far away from an actual implementation.

Slainte!

In sigma-delta dac, the sigma delta modulator is in digital domain. So does this mean that i need to design it using verilog instead of using analog way? Then the DAC part which convert the bit stream to an analog signal is design in analog way?
