short circuit protection

Hello,

In my design I am using an LM321 opamp for outputting max 24V with a current of 22mA. The LM321 is protected against short-circuits but only when not exceeding the maximum power dissipation. Is there a way protect the opamp against exceeding the maximum power dissipation when shorted. I saw some circuits adding a resistor like the attached picture. Could this be a solution?

Thank you and best regards,

Wamor

short-circuit protection for op amp

Well u may use trasistor base protection , where drop across a resistor when reaches ~0.7V it will open the connection.

I believe an internal circuit inside Op-Amp already have such function. You may check in datasheet again.
