Will Serial I/O dominate Parallel I/O in future generation Integrated Circuits?
 

Not. Serial-to-parralel conversion add excessive hardware, which is complicating design.
 

Depends on the application. yes, lower density parallel Flash memories (example AT29LV040/20)- are being replaced by is serial memories. And computing buses such as PCI got replaced by PCI-X. But higher density memory devices still have parallel buses.

IMO, lower complexity parallel I/O applications are getting replaced by serial I/Os.
