For my senior design project I will be designing an operational amplifier testing device.

The goal is that a student can plug in an Op Amp (741) and a screen will display the measured parameters of the op amp. The testing device should be able to display all of the parameters that can be found on the 741 data sheet. Then the display will tell you if the op amp is good or bad. The device also has to be battery powered.

Im good with working with circuits but my understanding of microcontrollers is lacking. I have many months to complete this project so I am going to make the device as detailed as possible. Many analog circuits that perform a few test have been done many times over and are very easy to build.

Could anyone point me in the right direction of the type of microcontroller(s) I should begin my research on?

Thanks everyone.

What are the parameters you will be measuring other than voltages and currents, if any? Will you also measure the +15v and -15v power applied to op amp? You can use PIC or AVR which have built in ADC. You can show the Op amp i/p and o/p voltages and currents but they should be scaled to 0-5v level.

Thank you for your reply.

I will want to test everything I can located under the electrical characteristics located in the data sheet.

I dont see the need measure the ±15 V because that parameter should be fixed, right?

If anyone has any other ideas to add I would like to hear them. Because of summer break I have till November to work on this project. Thinking integrating a thermometer would be good because tempurate does influence readings as well.
