I have a Tektronix 2236 CRT analog oscilloscope that's on the blink and I need the schematic, not the service manual which is widely available.

I used to have the complete schematic, scanned and posted somewhere by someone a long time ago. But I lost it in a computer crash and I can't find it again. Can anyone please help?

Never mind. It seems the SM has the schematic too. I must have kept scrolling past the relevant pages on the 300+ pages of PDF documents.

Yes, it's a great scope, and it has a long personal history for me.

I live in a remote part of a third world country. I first came to know about the Tek 2236 in 1987 when I was accompanying my brother to a large medical institution >2000 km away from home. The scope had just been introduced in my country and I saw it in a magazine advertisement. My mouth watered but I couldn't afford the introductory price which was equivalent to about US$4000 then. I wrote a handwritten letter to the company asking for details and, to my surprise and embarrassment, they sent a sales rep to the hospital with the scope from a city 140km away. I apologetically turned it down.

12 years later, when we at last had internet here, I looked it up on eBay (US) and there it was, a used one in "excellent condition" for US$400, with five Tektronix probes (each $100 new) thrown in. I couldn't pass it up but importing it myself was next to impossible. Regulations were strict and corrupt customs officials would have had a field day with me.

Fortunately, I had a friend from my town who was in Washington at the time and was coming home in a month. I struggled with myself trying to decide whether I should impose on him to bring such a bulky product - and run the risk of a big hassle with customs too. In the end, I discussed the matter with him and he was willing to do it (he owed me a rather large favour).

My friend wasn't very internet-savvy. So I took care of the buying process and he paid for it COD (sending money to a foreign country was practically impossible then). It was a great day for me when he brought it to my house and I switched it on.
