most of you would probably agree with me if i say, this topic is one of the least talked about topic in this forum. so i created one to gather all our thoughts, our knowledge, and everything about SCADA. you guys might probably ask why do i have my interest in SCADA systems. well honestly even my profession is in SCADA field, there are just a vast numbers of different SCADA systems, different technologies out there and i have my thirst on it to learn more about it.
so to start this are the list of topics (i must say a very prone with confusion topics):
1.)SCADA - supervisory control and data acquisition
2.)RTU - remote terminal unit
3.)HMI - human man interface
4.)SOE - sequence of events
5.)DCS - distributed control system
6.)IED - intelligent electronic device
7.)SCADA protocols
8.)PLC - programmable logic controller
9.)etc..( suggest if you believe there are other topics that you think worth to mention that's related to SCADA)

if you have something to share about or have some questions or clarification, suggestions or violent reactions about SCADA systems or any particular topic listed above please leave a comment here.

SCADA Buses would be a nice addition to the thread .. The buses includes CAN, PROFIBUS, Foundation Field Bus etc ..

@th3gr8 thank you for your suggestion. i will include this to the topic list. it would be great if we can share some of our own specialization here.

regarding SCADA buses. there are really many choices in the systems networking that depends on the system design or the OEMs. ex. if SCADA design is customized/personalized computer networking approach we may use fieldbus or for SCADA RTU system networking approach we may use CAN, and etc... i guess it all depends also on what kind of client . ex. manufacturing industries, utility industries ( power, water), building automation, even automobile automation. many factors need to be considered. but honestly im not very familiar with others though. when you work in a company in a particular country. it comes down to a few systems and few protocols. which put you in limitation.
